Our Experts at KOS 2026 – Research Presentations and a Debate on the Circular Economy

From June 2 to 27, 2026, during the 13th International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management (KOS 2026) in Greece, representatives of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – New Chemical Syntheses Institute actively participated in one of the most important international events dedicated to the circular economy, resource recovery, and sustainable waste management.

The Institute was represented by Dr. Krzysztof Borowik and Dr. Sebastian Schab, Eng., who presented the results of research conducted at Łukasiewicz – INS and as part of international research and development projects related to the recovery of fertilizer components and the development of innovative fertilizers for the agriculture of the future.

During the conference, our experts presented their research findings in the form of oral presentations and poster presentations. The topics of the presented works included, among others, the development of mineral-organic fertilizer formulations using post-fermentation fractions, granulation technologies for mineral-organic fertilizers, the production of fertilizers with bioactive polymer coatings, and solutions to help reduce odor emissions from fertilizers based on methane fermentation products.

Dr. Krzysztof Borowik’s participation as a panelist during the FertiCover Open Forum Roundtable deserves special mention. During the debate, experts representing the scientific community, industry, trade organizations, and European institutions discussed the future of bio-based fertilizers (BBF — BBF), regulatory challenges, and opportunities for market growth in products that support the circular economy.

The KOS 2026 Conference was an excellent opportunity to showcase the Institute’s scientific achievements, exchange experiences with partners from across Europe, and establish new contacts that will foster the development of innovative technologies for sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.
