On June 23–25, 2026, an international conference was held “Science and Industry – Challenges and Opportunities,” with sessions held at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin in Lublin and the Puławy Science and Technology Park. The event brought together scientists from Poland and abroad, who presented research findings in the fields of advanced materials, catalysis, chemical technologies, analytics, environmental protection, and sustainable solutions for industry.
The conference program included scientific sessions, a poster session, and meetings designed to facilitate the exchange of experiences and foster collaboration between the scientific and industrial communities. On the second day, participants convened at the Puławy Science and Technology Park, where the event was hosted by the Łukasiewicz New Chemical Syntheses Institute. The topics of this part of the conference focused, among other things, on industrial catalysis, mineral fertilizers, raw material analysis, and water treatment technologies. The sessions in Puławy were led by the Institute’s deputy directors: Dr. Paweł Kowalik and Dr. Marek Inger, Eng.
Employees of the Łukasiewicz New Chemical Syntheses Institute actively participated in the conference’s scientific program. Presentations were given by Paweł Kowalik, Agnieszka Dębczak, Alicja Drozd, Agnieszka Myka, Anna Zdunek, Aleksandra Bińczak, Olga Wrona, Ilona Węglarz, and Karolina Rymarczyk, who presented the results of research conducted at the Institute. Five posters were also presented.
The conference was co-organized by: the Institute of Biological Sciences at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, the Institute of Chemical Sciences at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, the Polish Chemical Society, and the Łukasiewicz Research Network – New Chemical Syntheses Institute.
The conference served as a valuable forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience and reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in developing innovative technologies that address current economic and environmental challenges.
