We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Professor Henryk Górecki, a person of particular merit and lasting association with the history and activities of the Institute of Fertilizers (INS) in Puławy, now Łukasiewicz – New Chemical Syntheses Institute.
Prof. Henryk Górecki, D.Sc., professionally affiliated with the Wrocław University of Technology, was an outstanding chemist and scientific authority in the field of chemical technology and mineral fertilizers. He was associated with the Pulawy Fertilizer Institute, and later Łukasiewicz – New Chemical Syntheses Institute, for many years as Chairman of the Scientific Council, as well as a member of the Institute’s Council. His knowledge, experience and authority had a significant impact on shaping the directions of scientific research and the substantive level of the work carried out.
Professor Górecki combined scientific activity with responsibility for the development of research institutions in Poland. He held numerous expert and advisory positions, and his achievements have made a lasting mark in the history of Polish chemistry and industrial technology. The passing of Professor Henryk Górecki is a great loss to the scientific community and the entire Institute community.
