Łukasiewicz – INS develops project for the production of green ammonia using hydrogen from advanced solid oxide electrolyzers
On the 30th of July of 2025, the Łukasiewicz Research Network – New Chemical Syntheses Institute (Łukasiewicz – INS), Rockfin S.A., Hynfra P.S.A. and Niterra Co., Ltd. formalized partnership by signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to promote sustainable industrial practices. The partnership is focused on development of state-of-the art technology of high temperature solid oxides electrolysis cell (SOECs) for the production of green hydrogen for decarbonize ammonia production process.
The joint project involves erection of a demonstration plant which will be integrated with the unique Łukasiewicz – INS research system for ammonia synthesis. The start-up of the plant is planned for the beginning of 2026 at out Institute in Puławy in cooperation with one of the Polish chemical companies.
Solid Oxide Electrolyzers provide new possibilities for integration of chemical processes. This is a decisive step towards making green hydrogen a practical and scalable solution for the chemical and fertilizer industries, while maintaining competitive production costs.
