Cluster of Polish Basalt Technologies

 Łukasiewicz – New Chemical Syntheses Institute with the Institute of Organization & Management in Industry “ORGMASZ” founded the Cluster of Polish Basalt Technologies. On the 3rd of November 2022 in the Łukasiewicz Centre in Warsaw, the official signing of the Letter of Intent by 28 entities who joined the initiative took place. The objective of the Cluster is to transfer knowledge in the scope of implementation of new solutions in basalt technologies sector and composites as well as their implementation in the economy.

Its mission is to provide support for entrepreneurs, R &D institutions and business operating in the basalt and its composites sector and to improve their competitiveness in both in domestic and international markets.

This initiative ensures the cooperation in the entire supply chain: basalt mines, and companies melting basalt fibres, manufacturing basalt rods and basalt mesh as well as producers of composites and end-products with basalt for different applications and entities delivering equipment and technological lines.  

Łukasiewicz – INS is constantly following new trends and possibilities of development and therefore, we have joined the project on development of the Polish basalt technologies – said prof. Janusz Igras, Director of Łukasiewicz – New Chemical Syntheses institute.  

Partnership will contribute to create basalt and basalt composites as one of the Domestic Smart Specializations. In the Cluster, the Centre for Basalt Technologies Innovations is planned to be set up.
